PURPOSE OF COURSE: 
This 3-hour training program has been designed to provide students with the tools needed to recognize and properly treat wounds in the field. 

COURSE OVERVIEW: 
Students will receive in-depth instruction on the preparation and application of basic and advanced trauma care. The training will provide students with the skills and knowledge to treat and survive traumatic injuries which will include but are not limited to the use of tourniquets, packing/wrapping wounds, applying chest seals and administering Narcan. 

COURSE GOALS: 
The goals of this course are as follows: I. Students will be able to recognize the signs and symptoms associated with life-threatening injuries and be able to apply the appropriate care and / or communicate the injury to paramedics in order to provide the appropriate care. 2. Students will understand the proper use and limitations of applying tourniquets, wound packing, pressure dressing, chest seals and Narcan. 

METHODS OF INSTRUCTION: 
This course is conducted using the following methods of instruction: • Physical demonstration of the proper technique to be used when applying tourniquets, packing wounds, applying pressure dressings, chest seals and use of Narcan. • Hands on practice completed by the students • In-class scenario-based exercises
