Registration preference will be given to those departments with less than 20 officers
Course Synopsis:
At the end of this class, students will have a firm understanding of conducting High Risk Vehicle Stops incorporating Vehicle Close Quarter Combat principles. Students will be shown PowerPoints with statistics, ballistic demonstrations, as well as run dry and live fire drills to hone skills.
PURPOSE OF COURSE: To build confidence and better tactics in High-Risk Traffic Stops.
COURSE DESCRIPTION: 8-Hour training officers in tactics of High-Risk Traffic Stops. Utilizing the patrol vehicle for cover, stacking pillars, and getting suspects out of the vehicle safely.
COURSE GOALS: The goals of this course are as follows:
• Understanding ballistic advantage using the car as cover
• Understanding stacking pillars for safety
• Understanding where to park vehicles when completing High-Risk Traffic Stop
• Understanding ballistic workings of rake and trajectory of rounds through glass
• Understanding the 16 points of cover a vehicle offers
• Understanding clearing a vehicle after no other occupants exit the vehicle
• Understanding the principles of vehicle CQB

RECOMMENDED INSTRUCTIONAL AIDS: None
ATTENDANCE POLICY: This is a state-certified course. Thus, no more than 10% of class time, or approximately 48 minutes, may be missed. It is strongly suggested, however, that the student be in attendance for the entire session to maximize upon the knowledge and skill development associated with the training. Should a temporary absence from the class be necessary, it remains in the responsibility of the student to contact the instructor and arrange to obtain any information or materials missed due to the absence.
SAFETY PROTOCOLS:
1. No live weapons, instructor will use live ammo ballistic demonstration in some classes
2. No alcohol
3. IFAK location will be known to all
4. Safety Officers will be appointed at the beginning of class
