COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This 4-hour Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC) is designed for police officers who operate emergency vehicles.  This course can be used as initial training for emergency vehicle operators to learn strategies to safely operate emergency vehicles in emergency and non-emergency situations, or as a refresher course for experienced emergency vehicle drivers.  Students will learn & simulate safe driving practices, defensive driving principles, the responsibilities of an emergency vehicle driver, how to safely operate emergency vehicles during emergency responses, and the difficulties of driving in high stress situations. The Improper/careless operation of an emergency vehicle can be considered “Deadly Force” and the “unreasonable Use of Force” could lead to constitutional violations and direct liability to the officers and agency.
