Illinois Public Act 94-103 ws signed into law in July 2005 allowing the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board to certify retired officers to carry concealed firearms consistent with HR-218. Public Act 94-103 authorized the Board to administer and conduct annual firearms certification courses for retired law enforcement officers that qualify under Federal law to carry a concealed weapon.
In order to apply, applicants must possess the following:
* A photo copy of your Firearm Owner's Identification (FOID) card
* A photo ID issued by the department from which you retired
* A letter from your pension board (or other authorizing agency) stating you have met the minimum requirements of retireing after 10 years of service in good standing
The application and certification fee is $75 for one weapon (semi-automatic or revolver) or $100 for two weapons.

Once the application has been pre-approved, you will recieve notification and at that time be allowed to enroll in the certification shoot at one of the statewide range sites. Upon successful completion of the certification shoot, a card signifying your successful completion of the State requirements will be mailed to you.
